Theme Number 33. The return to their Sending Base at Antioch in Syria.

Acts 14:21 -28
After they had won large numbers of Disciples and returned through the cities of Lystra, Iconium and Antioch in Pisidia they made their way through Perga to the port of Attalia. But before they caught a ship home they went back to the churches they had established and strengthened and encouraged the disciples to remain TRUE TO THE FAITH. v.22. “We must go through many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God,”they said.
They appointed elders in each church and with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord.
ed to reprThey Reported back to the Church at Antioch in Syria.
Act 14:26  Thence they sailed to Antioch, where they had previously been commended to the grace of God in connexion with the work which they had now completed.
Act 14:27  Upon their arrival they called the Church together and proceeded to report in detail all that God, working with them, had done, and how He had opened for the Gentiles the door of faith.
Act 14:28  And they remained a considerable time in Antioch with the disciples.

Note:
1. They returned to the church they had previously been commended to the grace of of God in connexion with the work. They didn’t go to Jerusalem.
2. They gathered the church together and reported all that the Lord had done through them.
3. They spoke how the Lord had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

There was the ACCOUNTABILITY of these Missionaries to their sending church similar to Peter reporting back in Acts 11 concerning the Gentile Pentecost in the Household of Cornelius. How important it is for those who go out to be under authority and not just be ‘one man bands’ doing their own thing.
