Theme Number 6 The SOUND as of a Rushing Mighty Wind.

Act 2:2  And suddenly a sound came out of the heaven, as being borne along by a violent wind! And it filled all the house where they were sitting.

The Vibrations of the Spirit of God.
The heavenly Sound on the day of Pentecost was as being borne along by a violent wind. Suddenly, a sound like a violent rushing wind came from heaven. Sound is made by Vibrations and according to Pastor Rod Jobe when the Holy Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost He brought with Him sound, vibrations and energy which  caused Men and Women to have a Voice in the earth.#

A.Clark: “There is a good deal of similarity between this account and that of the appearance of God to Elijah, 1Ki_19:11, 1Ki_19:12, where the strong wind, the earthquake, and the fire, were harbingers of the Almighty’s presence, and prepared the heart of Elijah to hear the small still voice; so, this sound, and the mighty rushing wind, prepared the apostles to receive the influences and gifts of the Holy Spirit. In both cases, the sound, strong wind, and fire, although natural agents, were supernaturally employed.”
1Ki 19:11  And He said, Go forth and stand on the mountain before Jehovah. And, behold, Jehovah passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke the rocks in pieces before Jehovah. But Jehovah was not in the wind. And after the wind was an earthquake, but Jehovah was not in the earthquake.
1Ki 19:12  And after the earthquake was a fire, but Jehovah was not in the fire. And after the fire was a still, small voice
The Sound or a Roar as of a Rushing Mighty wind or blast.
It is very interesting to note that breathe and wind are translated ‘spirit’ in the Bible. and ‘Wind’ is a symbol of the Holy Spirit in the following verses:
Gen 2:7  And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Breathe: Neshama = breathe or spirit
Gen 7:22  AllH3605 in whose nostrilsH639 was the breathH5397 H7307 of life,H2416 of allH4480 H3605 thatH834 was in the dryH2724 land, died.H4191
1Ki 17:17  And it happened after these things the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick. And his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.
Job 34:14  IfH518 he setH7760 his heartH3820 uponH413 man, if he gatherH622 untoH413 himself his spirit 7307 and his breath;H5397
spiritH7307  Ruah “air in Motion” breathe, wind
and his breath;H5397 [neshama]  breathe or blast from man’s nostrils. The Breathe of God may refer His creative activity as in Gen 2:7  Breathing Beings is expressed by Neshama.
Could we say the the SOUND as of the Rushing of a Violent Wind  was the sound of a Blast from God’s breathe into the Upper Room.
May this Old Hymn Be My Pray!

420. Breathe on Me, Breath of God

Text: Edwin Hatch, 1835-1889
Music: Robert Jackson, 1842-1914
Tune: TRENTHAM, Meter: SM

1. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love,
and do what thou wouldst do.

2. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will,
to do and to endure.

3. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
till all this earthly part of me
glows with thy fire divine.

4. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life
of thine eternity.
