Mat_3:11 I indeed baptize you with water to repentance. But He who comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire;
Act 2:3 And tongues as of fire appeared to them, being distributed; and it sat upon each of them.
The Fire of the Presence of the Holy Spirit sat upon each of them.
Look at these Scriptures
Lev_21:6 They shall be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God. For they offer the fire offerings of Jehovah, the bread of their God. Therefore they shall be holy.
The offerings were burned upon the altar to God a sweet-smelling savour.
Deu_4:24 For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
A.Clark : Thy God is a consuming fire - They had seen him on the mount as an unconsuming fire, while appearing to Moses, and giving the law; and they had seen him as a consuming fire in the case of Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and their company. Numbers 16. They had, therefore, every good to expect from his approbation, and every evil to dread from his displeasure.
Deu 4:33 Did people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire as you have heard and live?

Clark: Did ever people hear the voice of God - It seems to have been a general belief that if God appeared to men, it was for the purpose of destroying them; and indeed most of the extraordinary manifestations of God were in the way of judgment; but here it was different; God did appear in a sovereign and extraordinary manner; but it was for the deliverance and support of the people.
1. They heard his voice speaking with them in a distinct, articulate manner.
2. They saw the fire, the symbol of his presence, the appearances of which demonstrated it to be supernatural.
3. Notwithstanding God appeared so terrible, yet no person was destroyed, for he came, not to destroy, but to save.
Deu_9:3 Therefore, understand today that Jehovah your God is He who goes over before you. Like a consuming fire, He shall destroy them, and He shall bring them down before your face. So you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as Jehovah has said to you.
God is the God of Judgment bring the consequences of sin upon the heads of those who rebel against Him.
1Ki_18:24 And you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of Jehovah. And it shall be, the god that answers by fire, He is God. And all the people answered and said, The word is good.
j.G. And call ye on the name of your gods,.... The Baalim, the many lords and gods they served:
and I will call on the name of the Lord; the one true Jehovah and God of Israel, whom I serve:
and the God that answereth by fire; by causing fire to come down upon the sacrifice, and consume it:
let him be God; accounted, owned, and acknowledged as the true God, and so afterwards worshipped as such:
and all the people answered and said, it is well spoken; they thought it a very reasonable proposal, a very good method to determine the controversy, and come at the truth, and know who was the true God, and who not.

2Pe_3:12 looking for and rushing the coming of the Day of God, on account of which the heavens, being on fire, will melt away, and the elements will melt, burning with heat?
Rev_2:18 And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, He who has His eyes like a flame of fire and His feet like burnished metal, says these things:
Rev_20:9 And they went up over the breadth of the earth and circled around the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of Heaven and devoured them.
RWP And fire came down out of heaven (kai katebē pur ek tou ouranou). Second aorist (prophetic) active indicative of katabainō. Cf. Gen_19:24; Gen_39:6; Eze_38:22; 2Ki_1:10, 2Ki_1:12; Luk_9:54 (about John).
Devoured them (katephagen autous). Second aorist (prophetic) active of katesthiō, to eat up (down). Vivid climax to this last great battle with Satan.
Applications.
1. The Fire of the Presence of God consumed the enemies and the wicked such as in Numbers 16.
2. The Presence of the fire also spoke of God’s Holiness. Have you been Baptised with the Holy Spirit and fire. It is the Mighty Energy of the Fire of God evident in your life?
